Boost your Bike

Configure your kit

Upgrade your mechanical bike to electric power with Boost's UK engineered, rear-wheel conversion kit.

We've designed the ultimate system to upgrade your bike into a fully functional e-bike, without the huge price tag. Our full-size conversion kit can be configured to suit almost any bike, allowing you to keep riding a bike you love, but with an added power Boost.

Key Features:

  • Long-Range: Our 252Wh / 7Ah battery offers roughly 35 miles of range for typical riders. More than enough for most commutes, or longer days out in the saddle*
  • Low weight: adding around 4kg to your bike, a Boost conversion is significantly lighter than a budget e-bike
  • Rear-wheel motor: feels natural to pedal and handles like a normal bike. Safer and more intuitive than a front-wheel motor
  • Wireless control: Use our app for iOS or Android to change modes and see your battery info, or add our wireless display. Alternatively - just ride! The Boost system can run without any display or controls at all
  • No messy cables: There's just 1 cable between the battery and the motor, that's it. No miles of cables looped all over your bike like most conversion kits
  • Safety built in: Our battery is built from high-quality LG branded cells with an advanced Battery Management System and additional physical protections built in. When charged with the charger provided, it is just as safe as any big-brand e-bike system on the market.

Your Boost Full-Size kit includes:

  • Discrete Boost rear motor-wheel, custom built to your specification in the UK using Sapim stainless-steel spokes
  • Boost 7Ah 252Wh 36v LG cell Bottle style battery
  • Boost Bottle-Cage style battery mount
  • Key to lock battery to your bike
  • 36v 2A Charger (UK or EU plug)
  • Bolts to attach the battery mount to the bike

Optional Extras:

  • Cassette or single speed cog of your choice
  • Boost wireless display

*Range will vary depending on multiple factors, including terrain, rider weight, type of bike etc. 35 miles is a guideline only

Electrify Your Ride

The Boost full-size e-bike conversion kit is the only system that can convert your much-loved bike into a premium e-bike, at a fraction of the cost of buying one new. Our rear-wheel motor feels natural to pedal and doesn't affect the handling of your bike, unlike a front wheel motor which can make steering feel heavy and reduce grip.

Offering 35 miles of range, but only adding 4kg to your bike, Boost is the market leader when it comes to range and weight and is comparable to big-brand e-bikes costing upwards of £2000.

Our motor is compatible with most road, hybrid, city and gravel bikes, and some mountain bikes too. In fact, we can configure a wheel to suit any 130 or 135mm rear dropout frame, or uniquely for a conversion kit, most 142mm thru-axle frames too. Whether you have rim brakes or disc brakes, we can cater to your needs. Use our configurator below to set up your ideal spec, or contact us at support@boostbike.uk to discuss your options.

Your Wheel

What wheel size do I need?

The easiest way to work out your wheel size is to look at the tyres on your bike.

A number such as '26-1.75' means a 26" tyre with 1.75" width.

And '700-28' means a 700c tyre with 28mm width.

Most tyres will also show the ISO number; usually 559, 584 or 622.

Rim Colour

What are the options for rims?

We'd like to supply a rim that matches your existing bike wheel.

Rims suitable for rim-brake bikes have a silver band for the brake pad to work against.

We also have fully black rims - these are only suitable for disc-brake bikes as they do not have a braking surface.

The Boost motor has a mounting point for a six-bolt rotor disc so can be used with both rim brake bikes and disc brake. Disc brake rotors may need to be changed as we've found rotors smaller than 160mm can cause the disc brake caliper to touch the motor - a simple adjuster plate can move a caliper from 140mm to 160mm position.

Quick final check

All wheels are custom built and can't be refunded, so please check the specification carefully *. Please double check the following. If you have any doubts contact us or head to your local Boost bike shop.

  • Your bike has standard bottle cage mounts and there's enough space (Frame fitting check.)
  • Your bike is open dropout quick-release or 9.5mm / 10mm solid axle or (NEW!!!) through axle.
  • You understand that we supply the conversion kit only - how it performs or sounds on your bike is beyond our control and you must be a competent bike mechanic to fit it. If you are not confident with the fitting, please ask one of our over 100 UK bike shops for help.

* Wheels are 'custom-made items' under Distance Selling Regulations

FAQ

How fast can I go?

The top speed of the Boost conversion system is 15.5mph, which is the UK & EU speed limit for an electrically assisted bicycle. You can still pedal past this speed with good old fashioned leg power if you want to, as the motor adds no resistance!

How long does it take to charge?

The battery will charge in 4-5 hours. It is best practice to keeps these high performance LG cells in the range of 40-100% charged for maximum lifetime. Deep discharging, particularly in the cold, should be avoided.

What support is available?

We have a customer support team who can assist you if you have any questions while fitting the system, or afterwards - have a look at the BikeRadar video on this page to get an idea of what's involved. If you have any doubts in your mechanic-ing abilities, we have a network of over 100 UK bike shops and these are available to handle the upgrade for you for a small extra fee.

How much does it cost?

UK customers (includes VAT) £649 plus shipping. Overseas customers - £529 which does NOT include shipping. Generally we can supply fully built wheels in the UK & EU and DIY kits worldwide - shipping cost and availability is determined once the kit is added to your basket.

How long will delivery take?

We build each wheel in London to match the specifications and colour of your bike, so production time is 2-4 weeks. Purchasers in the UK can expect their system to arrive 3-5 days after it has been dispatched. Overseas order take 1-2 weeks to arrive, which can be delayed by your import customs.

What does the kit include?

The motor, power controller (the electronics in the base of the battery mount) and battery. We recommend that we build the wheel for you too, to your specification. We can fit a cassette or if you have the tools you can fit your own 7-11 speed Hyperglide style cassette. Everything can be controlled through our free app, and an optional upgrade wireless display is available.

Will I have to modify my bike? Can I remove the conversion?

No changes are required to your bike and we do not recommend any cutting or filing - it should not be necessary. The kit can be removed and your bike returned to its original form. You can even ride the bike without the battery, so your bike can become an e-bike just by plugging in the battery.
